Italy have entered the third day of preparations for Friday’s Nations League opener against Belgium, with the Azzurri continuing their work at Coverciano.

Football Italia has been closely following Roberto Mancini’s side throughout the week, providing updates from the training ground as the squad prepares for its first competitive Nations League fixtures and Mancini’s ‘second’ debut as the Azzurri boss.

With training underway since Monday, several players have caught the eye, while the coaching staff are still weighing up a number of decisions ahead of Friday’s encounter.

Lazio midfielder Davide Frattesi and Brentford d efender Michael Kayode spoke to the press about the preparations for the game and their feelings in training with the Azzurri.

Kayode has been called up for the first time in his career, while Frattesi has had a strong start to the season at Lazio with three goals in the opening five Serie A games.

As for the starting XI against Belgium, Frattesi might challenge Sandro Tonali for a place in central midfield, while Francesco Pio Esposito will certainly get the nod as sole striker. Mancini’s major doubt, however, concerns the wings as the Azzurri boss aims to use a 4-3-3 formation.
